On a one and a half million dollar California estate, attorney and executor fees alone come to more than fifty-six thousand dollars. That is before court costs, filing, publication, and administration. In practice families lose somewhere between five and fifteen percent of the total. In this market, one and a half million is an ordinary house.

What I said in this clip, lightly edited for readability.
For our scenario, the estate of our couple is one and a half million dollars. What is one and a half million dollars here in California, especially if you have something south of Ventura, or here? It is... We do basic here, just for understanding, so it hopefully strikes you how expensive it is.
Just for this one and a half million, just my fees and the executor fees are going to be over fifty-six thousand dollars. Without any costs of probate administration: the court costs, filing, publication. There are so many common knowledge costs involved that usually people lose five to fifteen percent of the total estate. And that's without litigation. And that money could be used elsewhere.
