Signing the trust is not the finish line. Title to the real estate, the financial accounts, the beneficiary designations, all of it has to be aligned. People arrive with a signed trust and an unfunded estate, and by then there is nothing to do but probate it.

Title to real estate, all of your financial accounts, and there are beneficiary-designated accounts. Everything must be in order. Without it, it becomes an expensive piece of paper.

And people come to me with that, and there's nothing I can do. We'll have to go through probate again.
